CLEAN WAVES – SUMMER 2022 DROP

THE NEW CLEAN WAVES ARCHETYPE EDITIONS HELP PROTECT CARIBBEAN, ATLANTIC, INDIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDS FROM PLASTIC POLLUTION

The latest Clean Waves Archetype sunglasses are created from upcycled fishing gear and intercepted plastic – with seven new designs supporting seven islands in the Atlantic, Caribbean, Indian and Pacific.

They include three of the Cayo Siete Hermanos, a chain of tiny islands off the Dominican Republic’s northern coast and Ilha Grande in southern Brazil – which sees a unique convergence of warm and cold waters. It’s one of the only places in the world you’ll find Antarctic penguins swimming alongside tropical-water dolphins.

Over in the Eastern hemisphere, the new drop supports the iconic boulder-fringed beaches of La Digue in the Seychelles (home to giant tortoises) and Australia’s Lizard Island, set in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef.

Each island has its own unique ecosystem, and marine landscapes teeming with incredible biodiversity — and sadly to say, no matter how remote they may be, plastic. You can learn more about these tropical paradises here, and you might find that you’ve visited an island or two, while others might be on your bucket list. If so, we hope their beauty compels you to help protect these paradises for future generations.

Made from Ocean Plastic®, the new range offers Tall, Medium and Low designs, the angular Sharp range in Tall and Low, and modish Round and Cat Eye frames. The first drop of the new Archetypes range is available in all black for now – but stay tuned for new colorways to be released very soon.

Each pair of Clean Waves Archetype editions are finished with Barberini mineral glass lenses — i.e., the best in the business — and tinted to match or complement the frames. The unique GPS coordinates of each island are subtly engraved into the top corner of the lenses, connecting you to the exact place on the planet you are helping to protect.

Clean Waves sunglasses are no ordinary pair of shades: they’re Symbols of Change that fund beach cleanups, education and infrastructure programs in some of the most ecologically important places on our blue planet.

As our work progresses, we’ll bring you the latest updates from the islands. If you have a pair of Clean Waves sunglasses, be sure to activate your coordinates for personalized updates from the place you support.
